1. For each video and article list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
- The concept of Aesthetics. An aesthetic is basically a principle of art. It has to do with what is considered to be beauty.
- Aesthetic Efficacy, which is staggering effects on emotion and reason mobilizing conscious and non-conscious processes.
- How the brain functions in regards to art.
2. Which philosopher's theroy on aesthetics do you feel is most important? Be sure to mention the philosphers name, era (time in history), and contribution to the aesthetic theory in your response.
- I would choose Immanuel Kant. Immanuel Kant is a German Philospher from the 18th century. I think Immanuel Kant' theory is the most important, because he has an interesting outlook on the ideas of freedom, nature, and art's beauty in the eye of the beholder.
3. What do you think about Changeux and Ramachandran scientific view of aesthetics and art? What was the most interesting fact you discovered from each speakers lecture?
- Changeux and Ramachandran's scientific view of aesthetics and art was an interesting outlook, in my opinion. I enjoyed Ramachandran's view of how art can effect the brain.
4. How do the videos and article relate to the readings in the text?
- All of the videos and the text has to do with concept of aesthetics and the brain's natural functions when dealing with art.
5. What is your opinion of the films and article? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics in your reading in the text?
- They help to understand art and the beauty of art, a bit more in depth. All in all, the videos were somewhat interesting and helpful.
