The first artwork is the Marilyn Monroe painting by Andy Warhol. The original piece was first created in August 1962, shortly after Marilyn’s death. He used a photograph from her film “Niagara” in 1952, which he then cropped to bring her features into greater focus. The Marilyn Monroe series he created in 1967 shows a very bright and bold image. Warhol defines the shadows on her face and body with a black color, while again using the hot pink for her eyeshadow and an orchid-like outline around her lips. This portrait speaks volumes to me due to the different splash of colors and variants used, and how well they all blend and complem...
